The National Council on the Arts has stated that "there is a response to the world which may be termed aesthetic awareness." Cultivation of this awareness is a social good as it quickens the experience of life and enhances its quality. Burbank's Art in Public Places Ordinance was passed on May 16, 1992 and went into effect on November 16, 1993. The offerings included in this visual presentation represent not only ordinance-inspired projects, but additional public art pieces which enhance the confidence, vitality, optimism, and beauty of the community. Public art revitalizes suburban areas, can spark economic development, and identifies buildings or facilities. It is felt that a public art program fosters successful partnerships between the private and public sectors and encourages artistic collaboration among professional disciplines engaged in urban design. 	Location: Johnny Carson Park, 400 Bob Hope Drive (Riverside Drive side) Artist: Erwin Binder Artwork: "Requiem" - a 12-foot bronze abstract, expressionistic sculpture of a flame, dedicated to the "Defenders of the Constitution."
	Location: Shamrock Gateway Plaza, 4411 Olive Avenue Artist: Andrea and Aldo Favilli Artwork: "He Envisioned Dreams that Others Might Share" - a larger-than-life-size cast bronze sculpture depicting a 1920's cameraman.
	Location: Burbank City Employee's Credit Union, 1800 W. Magnolia Artist: Ron Pekar Artwork: A corten steel column 18' high composed of six rectangular framed oval portraits ascending on interesting planes. The portraits are of Presidents whose images are utilized on American currency.
	Location: Park Avenue Senior Apartments, 730 Whitnall Highway, Cusumano Development Artist: Marlo Bartels Artwork: "Early Burbank" - A ceramic tile work which includes a large landscape image and various accent pieces placed in various locations throughout the facility.
	Location: Wildwood Canyon Park, 1701 Wildwood Canyon Dr. Artist: Ron Pekar Artwork: "Tree Spirit." - This three-dimensional corten steel sculpture is a multiple tree image that creates a sense of the serene. It is approximately 6' x 8' attached to a concrete base. The framing of the tree is highlighted with an enamel coating.
	Location: City Animal Shelter, 115 0 Victory Place Artist: Jay Fay Artwork: "Best Friends" - This multiple image sculpture is fabricated in brushed aluminum. The figures are approximately 4-1/2' high and include likenesses of a dog, a cat, a bird, a girl and a boy.
	Location: Wexler Building, 1111 S. Victory Blvd. Artist: Daniel Miller Artwork: "The Requirement" - The wrought iron is representative of a face pressed through a fence. The piece is 9' high and is integrated into a section of a fence which secures the building site.
	Location: Environmental Recycle Center, 500 S. Flower St. Artist: Sharon Jokela Artwork: "Afternoon Dragonfly" - A 4' x 5' tapestry composed of natural and synthetic fibers. It is impressionistic in style, creating a peaceful and harmonic visual presence.
	Location: Environmental Recycle Center, 500 S. Flower St. Artist: Otto Rigan Artwork: "Reclaimed Column" - The column is a contemporary interpretation of the exterior of a classical form. The concept is to draw attention into the interior of the form which is composed of glass callet. The callet is obtained from glass kilns when they are cleaned. The exterior of the 11' column is fabricated out of perforated bronze sheet with a chemically applied patina.
	Location: SMC Properties, 3800 Van Owen Artist: Marie Moseley Artwork: "Something Big - Unity" - A 40' long composition composed of irregular shaped granite pieces. The installation emulates the free forms flow of film unraveling.
	Location: 2835 Naomi Artist: Gordon Huether Artwork: Approximately 270 square feet of sandblaster patterns and permanently laminated specialty color glass.
	Location: City Hall Architects: William Allen & W. George Lutzi Burbank City Hall - A wonderful regency moderne structure. The lobby features nineteen colors of marble, brass rails and art deco detailing.
	Location: Burbank Public Library Artist: Rick Doray Artwork: "Dr. David Burbank" - 21" bronze bust, created in 1978.
